Welcome to Computer Engineering in 2021.

You are entering university after a period that changed how people study, work, and communicate. Some habits moved online; some returned slowly to classrooms and laboratories. This mixed experience is a useful reminder for computer engineers: technology is not separate from human life. It shapes how people cooperate.

Your education will not be only about learning a language or passing exams. You will learn how systems behave, why algorithms matter, how data is stored, how networks connect people, and why small technical decisions can have large effects.

The first year may feel uneven. Some topics will be familiar; others will feel completely new. Do not confuse difficulty with failure. Engineering is learned through repeated attempts, mistakes, and corrections.

Build habits early. Read documentation. Use version control. Write small programs. Explain problems to friends. Ask for help before confusion becomes silence. These ordinary habits will do more for you than waiting for motivation.

Computer engineering rewards curiosity, but it also rewards persistence. Welcome to the department; use these years to build both.

Google unveiled the Pixel 11 family on August 12, 2026, maintaining the late-summer announcement window that Google established with Pixel 9 (August 2024) and Pixel 10 (August 2025).
