Anthropic Releases Claude Opus 4.6

Anthropic released Claude Opus 4.6 on February 5, 2026. The model targeted coding, computer use, tool use, search, and long-running agent tasks, and introduced a one-million-token context window in beta for the Opus line.

The important change was not only context size. Agentic coding systems need to navigate large repositories, execute commands, inspect failures, and preserve goals across long sessions. Anthropic reported improvements in code review, debugging, and sustained autonomous work.

The same release also highlighted a growing security concern. Anthropic published research showing stronger models could discover serious software vulnerabilities at increasing scale. As coding agents improve, the same capability that helps defenders audit software can also lower the cost of finding exploitable weaknesses.
