Every November 10, Turkiye pauses to remember Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
In 2024, the Republic had entered its second century. That changes the tone of remembrance. The founding story remains essential, but the question now points forward: how can the Republic stay educated, fair, productive, and confident in a rapidly changing world?
Ataturk’s ideas are useful only when they are allowed to speak to the present. Science, reason, education, and independence are not museum words. They matter in classrooms, laboratories, courts, public debates, technology policy, and the daily choices of citizens.
The second century should not be a repetition of the first. It should be a continuation with better tools, deeper knowledge, and clearer responsibility. Remembering Ataturk in 2024 means refusing to let gratitude become laziness.
The silence at 09:05 is a pause, not an ending. It gives the country a moment to remember where it came from and to ask where it is going.
