Remembering Atatürk on November 10, 2019
Published:
Every November 10, Türkiye remembers Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
More than eight decades after his death, his presence remains visible throughout the country: in schools, public institutions, city squares, books, family memories, and the political vocabulary of the Republic.
But memory is strongest when it is connected to understanding.
Atatürk’s generation lived through the collapse of an empire, years of war, and the creation of a new state. Building the Republic required more than victory. It required laws, schools, institutions, economic plans, and a new vision of citizenship.
In 2019, the challenges are different, but the need for capable institutions, good education, science, and responsible citizenship remains.
At 09:05, we pause.
We remember Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect and gratitude.
