Remembering Atatürk on November 10, 2018

Every November 10, Turkiye pauses at 09:05 to remember Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.

In 2018, public institutions were again at the center of national discussion. That makes Ataturk’s legacy especially relevant. His achievement was not only personal leadership; it was the attempt to turn leadership into a durable republic.

Strong institutions are less dramatic than heroic stories, but they matter more in daily life. Schools, courts, assemblies, universities, and public offices are where the idea of a republic becomes real. When they work well, citizens do not need to depend on luck or personality. They can depend on rules, knowledge, and public responsibility.
