Welcome to Computer Engineering in 2018.
This is a good time to enter the field. There are more tutorials, libraries, development tools, and online courses than ever before. That abundance is helpful, but it can also be confusing. When everything is available, it becomes harder to know what deserves attention.
Your education should help you turn curiosity into understanding. Do not measure progress only by how many frameworks or languages you have touched. Measure it by whether you can explain a problem, design a solution, test your assumptions, and learn from failure.
In the early semesters, take the basic courses seriously. Programming, discrete mathematics, algorithms, digital design, and computer organization may not always look glamorous, but they train your mind to reason about systems. That ability is more durable than any single technology stack.
Build things outside class, but keep them small enough to finish. A completed simple project teaches more than an ambitious folder that never runs.
Welcome to the department. Stay curious, but give your curiosity structure.
