Remembering Atatürk on November 10, 2013

November 10, 2013 marks seventy-five years since the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Three quarters of a century is long enough for several generations to have known Atatürk only through history, family stories, photographs, speeches, and the institutions of the Republic.
Yet historical distance does not remove relevance.
His commitment to national sovereignty, education, modernization, secular public institutions, and scientific thought continues to influence how Türkiye understands itself.
The responsibility of a new generation is not simply to repeat the words of the past. It is to study them, understand their context, and decide how their principles apply to present challenges.
On this 75th anniversary, we remember Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect, gratitude, and serious reflection.
