Every November 10, Turkiye remembers Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
By 2009, smartphones, social networks, and online services were changing how people learned, communicated, and followed the world. This speed made Ataturk’s trust in science and rational thought feel less like a historical slogan and more like a daily need.
Modern life brings information quickly, but not always wisely. A society shaped by Ataturk’s principles should not only consume information; it should question it, test it, and turn it into knowledge. That is one reason his emphasis on education remains so important.
Ataturk’s legacy is strongest when it helps people think more clearly about the present. It is not enough to admire his reforms from a distance. The more useful question is whether we continue the habits behind those reforms: curiosity, discipline, public responsibility, and confidence in reason.
The silence at 09:05 is a reminder of loss, but also of direction.
