Remembering Atatürk on November 10, 2007

November 10 is a day of remembrance, but it is also a day to think about the meaning of a republic built through extraordinary difficulty.
In 2007, Türkiye is living in a world that is becoming more connected, more digital, and faster than ever. Yet some questions remain unchanged: How should a society educate its young people? How can science and reason guide public life? How can independence be protected while engaging with the wider world?
These were central concerns for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. His legacy is not limited to monuments or photographs. It is also found in the effort to build institutions, expand education, encourage scientific thinking, and create a society capable of determining its own future.
On November 10, we remember Atatürk not only for what he achieved, but also for the responsibility his vision places on those who come after him.
