Last night, I stumbled upon a movie that I had never heard of before. I was feeling a bit restless and decided to give it a chance, and ended up watching it for the entire duration without getting up from my seat. I was completely absorbed in the story, lighting one cigarette after another as I watched. As the movie came to an end, I found myself in tears. It had touched something deep inside of me, reminding me of my childhood and a person who had been very important to me: Sophie. I had lived with Sophie until the age of 11, when my father’s job required us to move away. I don’t know where Sophie is now, and the thought of never seeing her again fills me with a sense of loss and sadness.

The movie had such a profound impact on me that I ended up deleting it from my watch list, not wanting to accidentally re-watch it and have to go through those emotions again. But I can’t shake the feeling that it was somehow meant for me to watch, and that it was a reminder of a time in my life that I will always hold dear.

I was so captivated by Sophie and Julien’s narrative by the time the movie was through that I was unable to control my emotions. I knew I didn’t want to see the movie again, at least not anytime soon, despite my strong emotional response. I had been tremendously moved by the movie in some way, and I wasn’t prepared to experience similar emotions again. I thus crossed the film off my list.
