Eyşan Unutamıyorum

There is a soundtrack from Ezel called “Eyşan – Unutamıyorum.” The title is already dramatic enough on its own. It feels like the kind of music you listen to late at night and then suddenly wonder why your life feels more complicated than it actually is.

Toygar Işıklı created a very emotional atmosphere with piano, strings and a simple but memorable melody. Even if you do not remember the scene from the series, the music still works by itself. It somehow gives you the feeling that you have lost something important and that you will probably never get it back.

It also reminds me of a small sad story.

Years ago, I knew someone I really liked talking to. Nothing important happened between us. There was no big love story, no dramatic goodbye, and no final conversation. We simply talked less and less. One day, the messages stopped completely.

At first, I thought we would talk again after a few days. Then a few days became weeks. Weeks became months.

The strange thing is that when there is no real ending, your mind keeps the story open. You remember stupid details: a sentence, a joke, a place you walked past together, or a song you once mentioned. You do not even know exactly what you miss anymore. Maybe you miss the person. Maybe you miss yourself from that time.

Kierkegaard wrote a lot about regret, possibility and the strange weight of the choices we make. Sometimes I think the hardest memories are not about what happened, but about what could have happened. The mind creates another version of life and quietly keeps it somewhere in the background.

Maybe that is why unfinished stories are so difficult to forget. They have no clear ending. There is always another possible conversation, another meeting, another version of the future that never happened.

And sometimes, years later, a soundtrack starts playing and brings all of it back for three minutes.

Some soundtracks stay in the background and disappear when the scene is over. Others continue to live on their own. “Eyşan – Unutamıyorum” is definitely one of those.

Even the title is perfect:

Eyşan, I can’t forget.

Sometimes that is enough.
