2023 A Year Of Challenges And Achievements
Published:
2023 was one of those years that refuses to become a simple summary. There were achievements I had worked toward for a long time. I became an Assistant Professor, an academic step that meant a great deal to me. There were also difficult periods. Health problems and surgery interrupted normal routines and reminded me how quickly plans become unimportant when the body demands attention.
Family health concerns added another layer of worry. At the same time, I began putting more energy into my website and found new small interests and hobbies. I like this contrast because it feels honest. Life rarely gives us a clean “good year” or “bad year.” A professional achievement can exist beside pain.
A difficult month can contain a small hobby that makes evenings easier. I learned again that health is not one item on a list of priorities. It is the ground under most of the list. When it becomes unstable, everything above it moves. I also learned that creating small things can be surprisingly helpful during uncertain periods.
A page, a note, a technical improvement, or a new hobby gives the day a little shape. I do not know which part of 2023 I will remember most years from now. Probably not the part I expect. Memory has its own priorities. For now, I am grateful for the achievements and respectful of the difficult parts. Both belong to the year.
